“CHEERS to Del Norte and the future of rural Colorado.” Gov. Jared Polis shared a toast with Del Norte community leaders at The General Specific Store on Monday during his visit to the San Luis Valley.
Beautiful lighting, ambiance and warm spirits greeted Polis, along with a wide range of business owners and community leaders.
While Polis had a number of events on his calendar for the day he made the time to shake hands and chat with folks who make this small (yet growing) mountain town tick.
Corey Hubbard is definitely the hostess with the most-ess when it comes to community gatherings and engagement. Initiating conversation, listening to the diverse voices of the community, and in her magical way, connecting people with people and people with place in a pure and authentic way.
“To remind everyone that rural communities are the future,” said Hubbard.
Introductions were made, champagne was poured (sparkling water for the governor) and light conversation took place about the needs in the community. Hubbard toured Polis around the store where she helped him find a few goodies to purchase and they snapped a few Polaroids before he headed out.
