JULIE Allen is the new volleyball coach at Adams State. Allen arrives from Goodwell, Okla., where she was the assistant athletic director and head volleyball coach for Oklahoma Panhandle State University.
“Julie has a very impressive résumé and has proven to be successful at multiple levels,” said Adams State Athletic Director Katelyn Smith. “I’m excited to see her take over and build on the rich tradition and success of the volleyball program.”
Allen succeeds Lindy Mortensen in the position and is the 11th head volleyball coach at Adams State. Mortensen coached volleyball at Adams State for 18 years and is the winningest volleyball coach with more than 200 wins.
Allen had a 52-19 record in her three years at Panhandle State. She also has NCAA Division I experience with coaching stints at Wichita State and the University of Texas at El Paso.
