Adams State faculty recital celebrates Latin-American Song
ADAMS State University’s Matthew Valverde, D.M.A., associate professor of music, with special guest Kristin Ditlow, D.M.A., assistant professor of music at University of New Mexico, will present ¡Viva la canción latinoamericana! A Celebration of Latin-American Song. The Faculty Lecture Recital begins at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, in Leon Memorial Hall. The lecture is free and open to the public.
“At Adams State, I have worked to teach, support, perform, and uplift Spanish music and Latin American song, as this largely-unexplored repertoire is a veritable treasure-trove of beautiful melody, harmony, and poetry,” Valverde said. His faculty lecture recital will center on a selection of important Latin American composers and, in collaboration with pianist Ditlow, will include a performance of a few of their Spanish-language art songs.
