American Exile

Adams State University will host a special screening of American Exile on April 11

ADAMS State University will host a special screening of American Exile, a film by John J. Valadez and Carleen L. Hsu, at 6 p.m. Monday, April 11, in McDaniel Hall room 101. A question-and-answer session with filmmaker Valadez will follow the screening. The event is free and open to the public.

The hour-long documentary is about exiled veterans and their families and the movement to

bring them home. According to americanexilefilm.com, brothers Valente and Manuel Valenzuela volunteered and fought in Vietnam. Now, 50 years later, they are being deported but they are not the only ones. The film features the brothers as they learn about exiled veterans and embark on a journey to bring them back home.

The event is sponsored by Latino Public Broadcasting, PBS SoCal, KCET, Voices, and WKAR.
