Adams State women dominate RMAC cross country
ADAMS State runners Stephanie Cotter and Brianna Robles dueled to the finish at Saturday’s Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Cross Conference Championships, with Cotter winning the 6,000 meter race in 20:45.73 and Robles right behind at 20:50.71.

The two national champions from Adams State led a 1,2,3,4 finish for the Grizzlies, with Precious Robinson and Emily Schoellkopf finishing behind Cotter and Robles. Nicole Lawrence finished seventh overall and Adams State won the team title with a low score of 17 points and the largest margin of victory in RMAC history.
Adams State Cross Country Coach Damon Martin said the 2022 Grizzlies are in the top 3 teams all time for Adams State women and sees them on par with the 2019 NCAA DII Championship team. Adams State won the national title with a team low score of 23 points in 2019 and Cotter was the national individual champion.
The 2020 NCAA DII Cross Country Championships were canceled due to COVID. Adams State then won the 2021 national title with Robles leading the team and Robinson on her wing.
Now with Cotter, Robles, Robinson and a team filled with young runners that include Maggie McCleskey who was named the RMAC Freshman of the Year in, the Grizzlies will run for their third straight NCAA DII title on Dec. 2 in Seattle, WA.
The Grizzlies are back racing Nov. 19 when Washington Park in Denver is the site for the NCAA South-Central Regional Championships.
Adams State owns 23 national women’s cross country championships – 19 at the NCAA DII level and 4 NAIA crowns.
