Alamosa to celebrate completion of State Avenue reconstruction
THE city of Alamosa is celebrating completion of reconstruction on State Avenue with a community ribbon cutting on Friday.
Alamosa City Manager Heather Brooks, Mayor Ty Coleman, Public Works Director Harry Reynolds and others will participate in the 2 p.m. Friday event at the corner of State Avenue and 12th Street. The community is invited to participate.
Alamosa’s dedicated half-cent street tax adopted by voters in 2019 funded the State Avenue improvements.
“The city is grateful to be able to use this dedicated street trust fund to improve the quality of our roads and are thankful for the support of the community,” said Brooks in a released statement. “We also appreciate the hard work and dedication of our City staff, especially our Streets Department, Water and Sewer Department and Public Works Department. Without them, these projects would not be possible. We appreciate the partnership from Reynolds Engineering/Design, Gardner Excavating, Alcon Construction and ACI who made this project a success.”
Since the tax was adopted, Alamosa has been able to reconstruct First Street and overlay Fourteenth Street from Hunt Avenue to Old Airport Road and on Twelfth Street from Ross Avenue to Old Airport Road.
Construction on Victoria Avenue and La Veta Avenue are scheduled for spring 2023.
