THE Alamosa Veterans Day Parade is scheduled for Friday morning down Main Street Alamosa. Charlie Griego, Alamosa city councilor and one of the parade organizers, said local groups can still line up to be in the parade.
This year’s parade will feature bands from Monte Vista and Alamosa. The parade will stop precisely at 11 a.m. on Main Street between State Avenue and San Juan Avenue for an annual salute to veterans.
THE parade will begin near Nino’s Restaurant on Main Street. Organizations that want to participate in the parade are invited to line up at 10:30 a.m. with the other parade entrants.
This year’s Veterans Day Parade will be the first without Frank “Boogie” Romero. He was a longtime member of the Dickie Springer American Legion lineup of military veterans who passed away earlier this year.
The inaugural Alamosa Veterans Memorial Park race will be held Saturday. The race was established as a fundraiser for the Alamosa Veterans Memorial Park Project.
