Caetano is RMAC women’s basketball coach of year
MARIO Caetano arrived on the campus of Adams State as the assistant women’s basketball coach, was elevated to interim head coach last season and at the beginning of this season was named head coach.
Now you can call him Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Coach of the Year, an honor given to him Wednesday following Adams State’s first 20-win season in more than a decade and the Grizzlies’ first-round RMAC playoff game win.
“I’m only as good as my players,” Caetano remarked. “They work so hard, day in, day out. I’m so proud of everything they have accomplished.”
Adams State returns to the court Friday to play top-seeded Regis College in the semifinal round of the RMAC women’s basketball playoffs. The game is in Denver.
Caetano joined Adams State in 2020, following eight years at Northern New Mexico. He has a 33-23 overall win-loss record as Adams State head coach.
Adams State freshman Harmanie Dominguez was named second-team All-RMAC. Teammates Kiiyani Anitielu, Angelline Nageak and Elaina Watson earned all-conference honorable mentions.
