THE first community meeting hosted by AlamosaCitizen.com will feature state Sen. Cleave Simpson. Join us at Society Hall beginning at 6 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 27.
The founders of the new site, MaryAnne Talbott and Chris Lopez, will host the event. Alamosa Citizen is a member-supported, nonpartisan daily online newspaper that works to provide information and build civic involvement in the San Luis Valley.
Audience members can ask questions of Simpson or about AlamosaCitizen.com. This is the first of regular community events intended to engage the public.
AlamosaCitizen.com launched on Aug. 8 and publishes daily. Its most read articles to date include its 3-day series on the Upper Rio Grande Basin, its Day in the Life of the San Luis Valley photo essay, its story on the recent Gutted event, and its profiles on Center town manager Brian Lujan and San Luis artist Bianca Maestas.
The community meeting with Sen. Simpson will include discussions on the state’s new transportation bill, Simpson’s work on statewide mental health issues, his work to restore the Rio Grande Basin, and the San Luis Valley’s response to COVID-19, among other topics.
The event is free and open to the public.
