IN the spirit of Earth Day and Water ’22, the Rio Grande Basin Roundtable and city of Alamosa are organizing an Earth Day River Clean-Up. Partnering with the Rio Grande Headwaters Restoration Project and the San Luis Valley Water Conservancy District, this event is a way to connect with our water and show the environment some love.
The clean-up kicks off at Cole Park at 4 p.m. on April 22, 2022. Event sign-in, trash bags, and protective gloves will be available in the pavilion at the southeast corner of the park by the library. Participants are encouraged to bring their own gloves if they have them. Around 6 p.m., participants will meet back at the pavilion and will be awarded a coupon for free pizza and a beer at Square Peg Brewerks, located at 625 Main St. in Alamosa. To get a tentative head count, organizers are asking participants to RSVP to the event. Email erin@riograndeheadwaters.org to sign up.
