ALAMOSA County Clerk and Recorder Nicole Jaramillo resigned her position suddenly on June 30. To fill the vacancy and to keep the November general election on track, Mari Felix was sworn in Thursday as interim county clerk and recorder.

Felix is on the November ballot as the local Republican candidate for Alamosa County clerk and recorder. Jaramillo couldn’t be reached for comment and it’s unclear why she resigned or if she intends to keep her name on the November ballot.

Alamosa County Manager Roni Wisdom announced the move following Felix being sworn by Chief Judge Michael Gonzales.

Jaramillo has worked in the clerk’s office for 24 years. She took over for Melanie Woodward in 2019. Felix, too, has experience in the Alamosa County Clerk’s office.
