THE National Weather Service has forecasted heavy snow to fall in Colorado’s mountains over the next three days.

A Winter Storm Warning was issued for the Eastern San Juans. They are expected to receive up to a foot of snow and gusts of up to 70 mph.

Alamosa and the Valley floor are expected to receive light snow, but high winds and red flag warnings are expected to continue through the week.

Temperatures for the Valley are expected to stay in the high 50s and low 60s.

A large portion of the state is under a red flag warning. The high winds and arid conditions across the state are jumpstarting the fire season. Brush fires broke out in Pueblo, El Paso County, and Teller County over the weekend. Alamosa also experienced a debris fire near Tremont street on Sunday.
