Valley basketball teams take their hopes north to state tournament
CENTAURI, Del Norte and Sanford basketball teams will take their hopes and dreams north to the Colorado High School state basketball playoffs beginning Thursday in Denver. It’s the Great 8 round for Class 3A, 2A and 1A, with semifinals then slated for Friday and title games on Saturday.
Alamosa High competed last week in the Great 8 round and lost a heartbreaker in overtime.
This weekend the Centauri High girls team enters as the No. 2 seed against St. Mary’s, No. 7 seed, while the Falcons’ boys team takes on Windsor Charter Academy. The Centauri High boys will look to get back into the title game after losing in the 2022 Class 3A state championship game.
The Sanford boys team is also shooting for another shot at the state title after losing in the championship game in 2022. This year Sanford opens up against Simla in the Class 2A bracket. In the Class 2A bracket the Del Norte girls team takes on Burlington.
