Sierra Grande explodes; scores 102 points
against La Veta

THE Sierra Grande Panthers have now won four games in a row, beating the La Veta Redhawks 102-58. The Panthers scored 50 points in the first half, before opening the second half with a 33-point third quarter. Valley teams went 7-4 this weekend, with Monte Vista and Del Norte playing twice due to their earlier game being postponed.
Alamosa (4-2)
The Mean Moose have won three games in a row after a slow start, beating Lamar 49-7. Junior RJ Meis was a force for Alamosa, putting up 143 yards and a touchdown. Senior quarterback Kasey Jones also had an efficient night, throwing for 163 yards and four total touchdowns.

Centauri (4-2)
The Falcons have also won three straight games, beating Del Norte 57-0. Centauri was able to shut down Del Norte defensively, forcing two turnovers and holding the Tigers to just 28 yards passing.

Center (2-4)
The Vikings have lost three straight, falling to Ignacio 42-6. The Vikings will look to get back on track when they face another struggling Valley team, the Del Norte Tigers.

Del Norte (2-4)
The Tigers have lost four straight games, first with their loss to Monte Vista, 52-6, before falling to Centauri 57-0. The Tigers have now been outscored 126-19 in their last three games, after starting their season 2-0.

Monte Vista (6-0)
The Pirates remain undefeated, beating Del Norte 52-6 last Monday and Trinidad 68-6 on Friday. Monte Vista continues their strong rushing season, gaining 277 yards against Del Norte to go along with five touchdowns and 101 yards and two touchdowns against Trinidad. The Pirates also raked up eight sacks in their two games.

Mountain Valley (2-5)
The Wolves have won back-to-back games after they beat Sangre de Cristo, 76-19. Mountain Valley had a strong game on the ground, rushing for 371 yards and eight touchdowns. Junior quarterback and lineback Riley Heater also had an interception in the game.

Sanford (4-2)
The Mustangs had the week off, they will be back in action Friday.

Sangre de Cristo (0-6)
The Thunderbirds tough first season back on the gridiron continues as they lost to Mountain Valley, 76-19. Sangre de Cristo had a hard time defending the pass, as junior quarterback Riley Heater threw for 117 yards and two touchdowns on just seven completions.

Sargent (3-3)
The Farmers bounced back against Dolores, 52-0. The win makes the Farmers 1-1 in league play this year with only two league games left to play.

Sierra Grande (5-2)
The Panthers have by far scored the most points of any Valley team in a game this season, beating La Veta 102- 58. The Panther defense had a hard time against La Veta, but were still able to come away with two interceptions against La Veta junior Jessey Montunnas.
