LOTS of Halloween activities for kids, families and adults in communities across the San Luis Valley. All the weekend days are chalk full of Halloween fun. Here are some of the spooks and treats going on.
Friday, Oct. 29
Scariest Haunted House in Colorado
The Alamosa Library is where you’ll find the “Scariest Haunted House in Colorado.” It’s open from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at 701 San Juan Ave.
Monte Vista Trunk or Treat
Get the kids in costume and head to the Monte Vista Chamber of Commerce Trunk or Treat from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. It’s in the chamber parking lot at 947 1st Ave. You don’t want to miss it.
Terror at 1935 Grand Avenue: Haunted House in Monte Vista
Get in the spirit of Halloween with the Polished Bean’s Haunted House at 1935 Grande Ave. in Monte Vista. The haunted house is open for visits from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday. Cost is $15 at the door.
Freemon’s Haunted Ranch
Freemon’s Guest Ranch in Creede offers a Haunted Ranch for the Halloween spirit. The Haunted Ranch is open for visits from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday. Freemon’s Ranch is at 39284 CO-149 in Creede. Cost for the Haunted Ranch is $5 for ages 6 and up. Under 6 is free.
Saturday, Oct. 30
Dia De Los Muertos 5K Color Run
Head to the town of San Luis for its Dia De Los Muertos 5K Color Run on Saturday morning. It’s on Vega Road just south of San Luis. Runners and walkers of all ages are welcome. The event will be full of color and fun, so be prepared to get messy and have the time of your life. Dress up in your favorite Day of the Dead costume. Call Town Hall at 672-3321 for info.
Antonito Trunk or Treat
The old mansion in Antonito is hosting a trunk or treat from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., or until the candy runs out. The event is sponsored by Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, Antonito Together and the Town of Antonito.
Downtown Alamosa Trick or Treating
Alamosa merchants are passing out the candy starting at 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Head downtown, grab some lunch, do a little shopping, and let the kids get their treats from downtown merchants.
I’m Here for the Booze Bar Crawl/Costume Party
Get in costume and head Downtown Alamosa for the first “I’m Here for the Booze Bar Crawl.” It starts at 2 p.m. with drink specials from seven establishments. Have lunch and enjoy the discounts. You’ll see the Visit Alamosa tent where you can check-in, get details and enjoy an afternoon and evening with friends.
Square Peg Brewerks Costume Party
Square Peg Brewerks adds to the Downtown fun with a costume party that begins at 7 p.m. to closing. Square Peg is located on Main Street Alamosa.
Weekends Tavern Costume Party
From 9 p.m. to closing is the costume party at Weekends Tavern located at 2065 1st St. in Alamosa.
Del Norte Carthers Roadhouse Halloween Party
Join us for our Halloween Party. Includes Costume Contest, music, Halloween cocktails, and fun. Judging for the Costume Contest begins at 10:30 p.m. and includes prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. Bring the ghosts and ghouls, we’ll bring the party. Carters Roadhouse is located at 505 Spruce St. in Del Norte.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show Screening
The Vali 3 theatre in Monte Vista presents a special showing of the Rocky Horror Picture Show beginning at 11 p.m. on Saturday. Must be 18 to attend. Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door. Vali 3 is located at 139 Adams Street in Monte Vista. Get in costume and enjoy this cult classic show.
Sunday, Oct. 31
Fright-Fest by the Alamosa Police Department
Head to the Colorado National Guard Armory for Fright-Fest fun with the Alamosa police department and friends. The Fright-Fest fun goes from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The National Guard Armory is located at 1877 Old Sanford Rd., near the Alamosa Family Recreation Center.
Halloween Skate Night
After a visit to Fright-Fest at the Colorado National Guard Armory, head to the Alamosa Ice Rink for its Halloween Skate Night, open from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Scariest Haunted House in Colorado
Then after skating, head to the Alamosa Library’s “Scariest Haunted House in Colorado” which is open Sunday from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at 701 San Juan Ave.
Blanca/Fort Garland Trunk or Treat
The kids can get a bunch of treats at the Blanca/Fort Garland Community Center at 17523 U.S. Hwy 160 in Blanca. Food, fun games and prizes starting at 3 p.m. till 9 p.m. If you need more information call 719-379-4410.
