Potato  Festival

MONTE VISTA – The annual San Luis Valley Potato Festival is back , starting with a Friday night BBQing Potato Class and then a full slate of activities on Saturday.

SATURDAY, SEPT. 11

Joe I. Vigil Invitational

ALAMOSA  – A whole lot of high school and college runners will invade Alamosa for the 28th Joe I. Vigil Cross Country Invitational. The event begins at 8:45 a.m. at the Alamosa Cattails Golf Course. If you enjoy cross country running, this is the biggest single cross country event in the San Luis Valley each year.

Cinco in September Fiesta

ALAMOSA – The Sangre de Cristo National Heritage Area is hosting a Cinco in September Fiesta from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. It’s all happening Downtown at Main Street and San Juan. Storytelling, music and fun are all on order for the day.

Potato Festival

MONTE VISTA – The Tater Trot 5K at 9 a.m. and tours of potato farms top the morning schedule of the SLV Potato Festival. There’s also Mashed Potato Dunk Tank and other fun activities to keep you busy all day Saturday.

Snot Nose Kids Rodeo

ALAMOSA – The Third Annual Snot Nose Kids Rodeo gets underway at noon at the Fair and Rodeo Grounds. Sponsored by TA Rodeo, the rodeo features an assortment of events for kids and adults to participate in.

‘GUTTED’

The reality competition show “Gutted” moves into the weekend. The show pits YouTube and Instagram van life influencers against each other with three gutted vehicles they renovate. Tickets to attend at $50 for a day pass.

Snot Nose Kids Rodeo

ALAMOSA – More kids rodeo events begin at 10 a.m. at the Fair and Rodeo Grounds.

Final day of the Gutted Event off Highway 150 near the Great Sand Dunes National Park. If you go, dress for warm, dry weather.
