The season continues for the Adams State women’s basketball team. The Grizzlies on Monday were selected to play in the NCAA DII basketball tournament as a No. 5 seed in South Central Regional.

Adams State lost over the weekend to Regis in the semifinal round of the RMAC tournament. The strength of its schedule and its overall 24-8 season record was enough to get the Grizzlies into the NCAA tournament for only the second time in program history.

Adams State will play the University of Texas-Permian Basin in an opening round game at Denton, TX, on Friday. The game is on a neutral court for both teams, with UTPB based in Odessa, TX, coming in with a 24-7 record and seeded No. 4 in the region.

Adams State’s 24 wins this season establishes a new high bar for victories in a season by an Adams State women’s basketball team. The Grizzlies were co-champs of the RMAC regular season with an 18-4 conference record.
