Alamosa County Coroner Joe Dzuris announced his candidacy for re-election in 2026. Dzuris is completing his first term as coroner and said he’s focused his time on “modernizing the coroner’s office and strengthening its role with the local law enforcement agencies and public health systems.”
In his re-election announcement, Dzuris said it’s important that the local coroner’s office remain independent and focused on “facts, science and public service.”
“The role of coroner is not political, it’s about determining the truth, maintaining the public trust and supporting the families during their most difficult times.”
Dzuris said he will continue to strengthen death investigation practices in Alamosa County by continuing to educate himself and the deputy coroners.
“I’m asking for your support to continue this vital work,” he said.
Dzuris will run in the June 30 primary to be the GOP candidate. The county coroner’s office is among the local elected offices that voters will decide in the November midterm 2026.
