The tourism marketing operations in Alamosa and Pagosa Springs are teaming up for a joint campaign that connects the San Luis Valley and southwest region of Colorado for international visitors.
Visit Alamosa and Visit Pagosa Springs will use funding from the Colorado Tourism Office and Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade to jointly promote the region. The new campaign will target international travelers who may find themselves at the Great Sands Dunes and wonder: What else there is to see?
“A combined advertising campaign will allow us to promote an ‘off the beaten path’ segment of Colorado for many international travelers. We are focusing efforts on the strongest markets for both destinations,” said Kale Mortensen, executive director of Visit Alamosa.
“We are excited about creating new itineraries and a marketing campaign that ties together both destinations seamlessly to improve the visitor experience,” he said.
The campaign will lead the traveler through the western end of the Valley to then discover Pagosa Springs, or vice versa, target international travelers in Pagosa Springs and lead them into the discovery of the San Luis Valley.
The collaboration received a $40,000 grant from the two state agencies to pull off the campaign in 2024.
“Both destinations have prioritized growing international visitation and we understand the strength of working together to promote our destinations to reach a unique audience,” said Jennifer Green, Pagosa Springs executive director of tourism.
“Alone, our destinations can only do so much with international marketing; this collaborative effort expands our reach that aligns with the international traveler,” she said.
