Voters in the Del Norte Fire & Protection District rejected a pair of ballot measures on Tuesday that would have put in place a 1 percent sales tax and given the special fire district exemptions to the Colorado TABOR Amendment.
Both Ballot Issue A and Ballot Issue B lost the majority vote in what was a test for a new state law that allows fire districts in Colorado to pursue additional funding through a sales tax collection.
The special district election was managed by Community Resource Services of Colorado, LLC, which contracts through the state to conduct elections for special districts in Colorado. The results are preliminary until certified by the state.
