Kristy Esquibel, chief credit officer at First Southwest Bank, was appointed to serve a three-year term on the Community Development Bankers Association Board of Directors. Esquibel will represent the organization as chief credit officer and executive vice president.

The appointment was announced at the annual members meeting in Washington, D.C., earlier this month.

“Kristy’s appointment to the CDBA Board represents both her exceptional leadership in community development banking and FSWB’s continued commitment to advancing the mission of Community Development Financial Institutions nationwide,” said Kent Curtis, FSWB president and CEO.

Esquibel brings extensive experience in credit administration and community development lending to her new board role. As chief credit officer at FSWB, she has been instrumental in expanding the bank’s impact in underserved communities while maintaining strong credit standards and risk management practices.

The CDBA members meeting also recognized the distinguished service of departing board members, including Curtis, who served nine years on the board, including as board chair.

First Southwest Bank, a locally owned, independent community bank and one of only two Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) banks in Colorado, is proud to announce Esquibel’s appointment and celebrates her continued leadership and dedication to community-focused banking.

The Community Development Bankers Association (CDBA) is the national trade association of the community development bank sector. As the voice and champion of the industry, it educates policy makers, regulators, and legislators on the importance of community development banks and thrifts with a mission of serving low- and moderate-income communities.
