Straw Bale Construction Free Info Session
Attendees will learn about building homes from sustainable straw bales grown here in the SLV, and about the many reasons to love this beautiful and environmentally-friendly alternative building technology. Valley Architects will give an overview of and answer questions about the benefits of straw bale design. Steven Harrell (Harrell Quality Homes) and Lucas Martinez (Craft Construction) will share their hands-on experience.
Straw bale construction is extremely insulative, far more fire-resistant than conventional stick-built walls, and healthier than many of today’s building materials, that off-gas as a home ages. Among alternative building technologies, straw bale construction is also one of the most DIY-friendly. Additionally, some of the best straw bales for building are baled in the San Luis Valley, creating a highly transparent supply chain and avoiding environmental and ethical concerns about how and by whom the home you live in was made.
