Jamie Greeman, executive assistant for Alamosa County, announced her candidacy for Alamosa County clerk and recorder.

“I am strongly committed to running for Alamosa County clerk because of my love and dedication to Alamosa County and my earnest desire to see Alamosa County have the professional, efficient and accountable office that it deserves,” she said in her announcement.

The county clerk and recorder office is the among the county government offices that voters will decide in the 2026 election cycle. County treasurer, county assessor, county sheriff, county commissioners are all offices that will be determined in November.

Greeman is the first to announce for county clerk and recorder. The position serves as the chief local election official, is responsible for managing local elections including voter registration and ballot counting, as well as dealing with motor vehicle services such as titles and plates, and recording public documents such as marriage licenses and real estate deeds.

Current Alamosa County Clerk Mari Felix is mired in a district court proceeding. Her husband, Martin Felix-Lopez was accused and charged in 2023 with sexual abuse of a minor. Felix was originally charged with conspiracy, but the charges were later lowered to just a single county of accessory to a crime.

Felix has a motions hearing for the accessory case on Tuesday, Jan. 20, in preparation for a week-long jury trial starting in March.

In making her bid for the office, Greeman says her priorities are “supporting fair, accessible elections and providing all the support possible to the amazing volunteer election judges, improved professionalism and customer service for residents, and to be a fierce protector of the accuracy and security of public records.”

“I am incredibly loyal to Alamosa County, I am someone who works hard and is committed to doing the work every day. I am focused and reliable, pride myself on my organizational skills, and have respect for the rule of law in everything I do. I believe each resident of Alamosa County deserves to be treated with fairness and courtesy regardless of background or political affiliation and I will work collaboratively with County officials to serve the best interests of Alamosa County.”

Greeman will run in the June 30 primary to be the GOP candidate for Alamosa County clerk and recorder.
