Three candidates for Monte Vista police chief will be introduced at a community meet-and-greet scheduled for Monday, July 21. The community meeting will run from 5:30-7 p.m. at Nino’s Restaurant.
Tyler Harford is currently the interim chief. Harford began working for Monte Vista Police Department in 2018. He worked for the Saguache County Sheriff’s Office for seven years, from 2011 to 2018. He was named interim chief following the resignation in February of Sean McDonagh. During his interim role, he successfully acquired more than $120,000 in grant funding and oversaw the complete reconstruction of the department following the departure of all prior command staff, leaving him as the sole remaining member of the command structure. In 2023, Harford received the FBI LEEDA Trilogy award, marking the completion of the Supervisor, Command, and Executive Leadership Institutes.
Greg Tuliszewski of Craig began his law enforcement career in 1991. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in public administration from Regis University, where he graduated summa cum laude. Tuliszewski furthered his education at the Northwestern University Center for Public Safety, completing the School of Police Staff and Command, the Rural Executive Management Institute, and the FBI Rocky Mountain Law Enforcement Executive Command College. Throughout his career, Tuliszewski has earned certifications as a P.O.S.T. firearms instructor, field training officer, narcotics investigator, and Level II traffic investigator. His diverse assignments have spanned patrol, investigations, records, communications, administration and emergency management.
Hank Weber is a 35-year law enforcement and 24-year chief of police veteran. He currently serves as the town manager in South Fork. He is married with four children and nine grandchildren. His wife, Deanna, works at the Monte Vista Medical Clinic. Hank holds a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice management and ethics, with a minor in theology and Master in Business Administration degree, both from Mid-America Christian University in Oklahoma City. He has served in the U.S. Air Force as a staff sergeant, law enforcement specialist with duties in narcotics investigation with the Air Force Joint Drug Enforcement Team. Hank currently serves as a lead firearms instructor for cadets at Trinidad State College, P.O.S.T. Law Enforcement Academy.
