OVER the course of the past few weeks, detectives with the Monte Vista Police Department obtained search warrants for several locations within Monte Vista for distribution of narcotics.

On Oct.  24 and 25, the Monte Vista Police Department served three search warrants with assistance from the Rio Grande County Sheriff’s Office and the Colorado State Patrol.

The first search warrant was served in the 300 block of Davis Street where Adam Trujillo, 30, of Monte Vista was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful distribution of a controlled substance. Officers recovered methamphetamine and heroin. Trujillo was booked into Rio Grande County Jail.

Later in the day on Oct. 24, another search warrant was executed in the 100 block of Faraday Street in Monte Vista. Raymond Ramirez, 46, and Rachel Ramirez, 53, of Monte Vista, were arrested for unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful distribution of a controlled substance and special offender due to the amount of drugs and weapons recovered. Officers recovered seven firearms, heroin, fentanyl, cocaine, and cash during the execution of this search warrant. Both were booked into Rio Grande County Jail.

On Oct. 25, another search warrant was executed in the 500 block of Franklin Street. Officers found drug paraphernalia and used needles throughout the house. Ronnie Mascarenes, 30, of Monte Vista was arrested for an outstanding warrant. This investigation is ongoing.

All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
