Mosca households will see their sewer rates increase to $60 from $50, and certain commercial businesses in the unincorporated area will also see an increase under the 2026 rate structure approved Wednesday by the Alamosa County Commissioners.
The rate increases are part of Alamosa County’s efforts to balance its costs for operating the Mosca Wastewater Treatment system. The wastewater plant operates at an annual loss, and Mosca households and businesses in the area will continue to see increases in coming years to offset the operating costs.
Alamosa County taxpayers have been subsidizing the operation of the wastewater plant to the benefit of the Mosca area. The county government saw a $34,000 shortfall in operating the wastewater plant in 2025, according to county figures.
There are 47 residences and nine commercial operations in the Mosca area tied into the wastewater facility.
