Chris Lopez is editor and co-founder of Alamosa Citizen, and co-owner of Zepol Media Partners, LLC, a marketing and design firm based in Alamosa. His journalism career spans more than 45 years from Colorado to California and Texas and back home to Alamosa. He was born and raised in the Valley.


MaryAnne Talbott is publisher and co-founder of Alamosa Citizen and co-owner of Zepol Media Partners, LLC. A graduate of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, she has had a long career in editing and publication design. Every day is a new chance to geek out over typography.


Owen Woods reports on all parts of Valley life, covering stories from the outdoors to the courthouse. He also photographs, shoots video, records audio, and produces The Valley Pod, The Outdoor Citizen, and the Creative Citizen: Unexpected Artist podcasts for the Citizen.


Hannah Eubanks is the web producer for Alamosa Citizen, where she produces stories, social media content, videos, and more. Originally from Colorado Springs, Hannah graduated from Adams State University.


Madeleine (Maddy) Ahlborn moved to the San Luis Valley in 2014 from Boston. She is the host of the Creative Citizen: Unexpected Artist podcast, the founder of The Church Project Community Art Center in Monte Vista, and the grant writer for San Luis Valley Great Outdoors in Alamosa.


Marty Jones has lived and recreated in the San Luis Valley for 36 years. Now that he has retired from teaching chemistry at Adams State University, he has more time to spend bicycling, walking and hiking, fishing, and watching the incredible birdlife in the Valley. Marty also plays mandolin for The Celtic Knots and for the ASU steel drum ensemble. He volunteers with KRZA radio, Habitat for Humanity, the Rio Grande Farm Park and SLV chapter of Trout Unlimited. Oh, and let’s not forget: He’s host of the Outdoor Citizen podcast.


Ryan Michelle Scavo, aka RyOutside, is an avid outdoorswoman, visual storyteller, and lifelong adventure seeker based in Del Norte, Colorado. She is a photographer and regular contributor to Alamosa Citizen. 


Javier Rodriguez is an intern at AlamosaCitizen.com and the Rural Journalism Institute of the San Luis Valley, and a student at Adams State University in Alamosa.


Bri Robles is an intern with the Rural Journalism Institute of the San Luis Valley. She is a student-athlete and MBA candidate at Adams State University. She has served as editor for student publications The Paw Print newspaper and The Sandhill literary magazine. She is also a two-time national champion and 18-time All-American in track and field and cross country.


Christopher Mondragon is an intern with the Rural Journalism Institute of the San Luis Valley, working on sound engineering. A 2025 graduate of Alamosa High School, heโ€™ll study biology and music at Adams State University in the fall.


Sienna Gallegos is an intern with the Rural Journalism Institute of the San Luis Valley, working in advertising and member relations. Sheโ€™s a 2024 graduate of Alamosa High School and a sophomore at Colorado State University studying business administration with a minor in Spanish.


Evan Arvizu is an intern with the Rural Journalism Institute of the San Luis Valley. Sheโ€™s a senior at Colorado College majoring in Environmental Anthropology and minoring in Journalism.
