Local artists David Montgomery, painter; Kyle Burnett, photographer; and Annette Troncoso, painter, have their latest work on exhibit at the Cloyde Snook Gallery on the campus of Adams State.

The exhibit, “Paint and Pixels: Triplicity,” runs through Thursday, Dec. 11. A gallery talk begins at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 13, followed by an opening reception until 7 p.m.

Troncoso was born and spent her early years in the Los Angeles area where she discovered an intense love of art. An alumna of Adams State, she studied with Cloyde Snook, Steve Quiller and Ed Clemmer. Troncoso studied under the tutelage of Harvey Dinnerstein at the Art Students League of New York City. She also took classes at the National Academy of Design. Troncoso’s work focuses on people at work. A series involving agricultural workers that she began in the mid-’90s now has more than 60 works. She also explores portraiture and landscapes. Troncoso’s artworks are in private and public collections throughout the country.

Burnett explores connections between art, nature and human experience. With a passion for both portrait and landscape photography, he photographs fleeting moments that tell genuine stories of life and the natural world. Burnett is inspired by Colorado’s diverse landscapes, and his photography explores the beauty of open spaces and the intimate details of human expression.

Montgomery has been prominent in the San Luis Valley art scene for decades. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting from Colorado State University and did post-graduate studies at Adams State. His artwork is shaped by the monumental vistas and pristine environs of this rural area at the headwaters of the Rio Grande, San Juan and Arkansas Rivers. Montgomery shares his love of these western spaces with his plein air pieces as well as larger studio landscapes that fill collectors’ walls. He strives to “celebrate nature through the magic of painting.”

Works by Montgomery can be seen in local collections including Adams State Richardson Hall, San Luis Valley Health Regional Medical Center, Trinidad State College, Rio Grande Farm Park and a mural at Centennial Park in downtown Alamosa. Montgomery is the exclusive painter at Rare Things Gallery in Creede and also represented by Firedworks Gallery in Alamosa.

At the same time, the Hatfield Gallery is hosting “Lobatos Bridge Project: Highlighting the Outdoor Classroom,” with sign work by Kelly Ortiz and bronze sculptures by Centauri High School and Adams State students.
