Investigators are now asking for the public’s help in solving the homicide of former Center trustee Bill McClure. The Saguache County Board of Commissioners and the Saguache County Sheriff’s Office are offering a $2,000 reward for information that leads to arrests.
McClure, 78, was killed in his home on Dec. 24; no suspects have been identified publicly. The autopsy ruled that he was killed by blunt force trauma to the head. He was last seen alive on Dec. 19.
The Colorado Bureau of Investigation is leading the investigation with the help of the Saguache County Sheriff’s Office, Center Police Department, and the 12th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.
“While the investigation remains active, authorities are seeking more information regarding any suspicious activity in the area between December 19 and December 23, 2025,” CBI wrote in a Monday press release.
To ensure the community can provide information securely and anonymously, CBI has partnered with Crime Stoppers to manage all incoming calls. Information that may seem insignificant to a bystander could be the “missing piece” needed by investigators, CBI said.
The anonymous tipline can be reached at 719-589-4111. Callers may be eligible for a cash reward of $2,000 for information leading to an arrest.
“We are committed to finding justice for the victim and his family,” said CBI Director Armando Saldate. “By leveraging the Crime Stoppers network, we hope to encourage anyone with even the smallest detail to come forward without fear.”
As this is an active and ongoing investigation, CBI noted, no further details regarding the specific cause of death or evidence collected at the scene will be released at this time.
