LOOKS like the San Luis Valley and Saguache County may be a bit too rural for the country music scene produced by Live Nation and its Seven Peaks Festival. After bringing the outdoor concert to Villa Grove and Saguache County last year, organizers have opted not to return in 2023.

Saguache County Commissioner Tom McCracken confirmed this week that despite a fun event and beautiful venue, Saguache County received a letter from the representatives saying that they “decided not to do it again.” McCracken thought the event was a success, so when he received the letter with the news he said, “I was surprised to hear that.”

He also said Saguache County Officials decided not to inquire into the reasoning. The Colorado Sun first reported on the decision.

Country music singer Dierks Bently, who started Seven Peaks as an event in Buena Vista, said on the podcast “Taste of Country” that last year’s event in Saguache County had poor cell service, no electricity, and “not many amenities.” He also suggested that they (Live Nation) “lost millions of dollars.”

Bently suggested that Seven Peaks may move to Red Rocks, but Live Nation has yet to confirm any dates, venues, or headlines for this years’ event.
