The Alamosa County Democratic Party is hosting a forum for statewide candidates on Saturday, Feb. 21, at Society Hall in Alamosa.

Audience members will hear directly from Democratic Party candidates on issues important to rural Colorado, and especially important to the people of the San Luis Valley, according to local organizers.

Participating in the forum are 11 candidates running for seven offices. Those candidates are:

U.S. Senate candidate Julie Gonzales; U.S. House District 03 candidate Alex Kelloff; Colorado governor candidates Carmen Broesder and Antonio Martinez; Colorado House District 62 candidate Matthew Martinez; Colorado attorney general candidates Michael Dougherty and David Seligman; Colorado secretary of state candidates Amanda Gonzalez and Jessie Danielson; and Colorado state treasurer candidates John Mikos and Brianna Titone.

Gonzales is challenging U.S. Sen. John Hickenlooper for the Democratic Party nomination in the primary slated for June 30, while Kelloff is the Democratic candidate who would face GOP Rep. Jeff Hurd in the November midterm election.

Additional Democratic candidates running for statewide or federal office may be added as their schedules allow, organizers said.

The moderator for the Alamosa candidate forum will be Andrew Yaste, Colorado Democratic Party treasurer.

The candidate forum will be held from 2-5 p.m. Tickets to the forum are available at no charge here:

Colorado will hold party primaries on June 30. Candidates who win their primaries qualify for the midterm election on Nov. 3.
