Ballots for the 2025 municipal and school board elections are arriving in the mail this week. In Alamosa and parts of Conejos County, the ballot also includes a vote on a bond proposal from the Alamosa School District.

The Alamosa ballot includes one contested city council race, with Jan Vigil and Zachary Reaves vying for the at-large seat on city council. Dawn Krebs is running unopposed for the Ward 2 seat after Justin Coley dropped out.

Mayor Ty Coleman is unopposed and will serve another term. Alamosa’s open Ward 4 seat did not have any candidates make the ballot by the normal signature petition but has two write-in candidates.

The city of Monte Vista cancelled its election since there were no contested races. Dale Becker will return as mayor and Horacio “Stretch” Naranjo will take one of two open at-large seats since he was the only one to file as a candidate for Monte Vista city council.

Monte Vista will have an open seat on its city council and will ask for applications to fill it, said City Clerk Unita Vance.

A Yes on 5A Committee composed of community leaders was formed to support the Alamosa School District’s $30 million bond proposal. The money would be used to pay for projects from the school district’s Facilities Master Plan list.

None of the school bond proceeds would go to pay for any of the ongoing construction happening at the school district’s headquarters located on Main Street Alamosa, school officials said. Alamosa is remodeling the building to also accommodate students attending its online and alternative high school in addition to the school district’s administrative staff.

At Go Vote Colorado, individuals can check their registration status or to register to vote. Registered voters can also cast a ballot on election day, Nov. 4, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. by voting at the local county clerk office.

EDITORS’ NOTE: This story has been updated to reflect that Justin Coley has dropped out of the race for Alamosa City Council Ward 2.
